Grapefruit Blackberry Lemonade

Grapefruit lemonade is one of my favorites, but its even better with blackberries, which adds not just fantastic color to any lemonade, but also a solid layer of flavor and complexity, it is an all around super refreshing drink, the variations on this are endless, you can drink it at any time of the day, add it to a lemonade cleanse,  or mix it with your alcohol of choice (Bourbon or tequila would win a lot of points here)

Nutritional benefits:

I am a big fan of the grapefruit diet using the fruit’s low glycemic index this is really a great way to boost the metabolism and burn fat faster. that with the combination of blackberries as a natural antioxidant makes this juice a great nutritional benefits in any diet.

Ingredients:

3 lemons.

1 grapefruit

blackberries (handful)

2 cups water

Agave Nectar

Method:

Juice.

Mix.

Sweeten.

Chill.

Drink.

Note:

I find that it is easier to use a Citrus press to extract grapefruit and lemon juice rather than a traditional juicer, you have to do less prep work that way.

Grapefruit Strawberry Lemonade

Lemonade is just a great base for almost any kind of experiments and flavor building, here is another lemonade recipe, grapefruit strawberries lemonade, between the sweet bitterness of the grapefruit and the light acidity and sweetness of the strawberries, combined with fresh lemon juice, this is one of the most refreshing and flavorful juice recipes out there. You can drink it just as is, have it be a part of  a lemonade cleanse or simply add your favorite alcohol to it and take it to the next level (Bourbon or campari + grand marnier would work great here).

you probably note that in this lemonade video I am also adding a bit of ginger juice to the mix, it is optional though I think that it adds a layer of complexity to the juice.

Another refreshing take on the traditional lemonade, a combination of blueberries, grapefruit and a touch of ginger, creating very energetic type of lemonade. depending on the time of the day and the occasion you serve this, you can pick and choose if you’ll like to enhance it with your fav liqueur, if so I would recommend adding around 3oz of either bourbon  or tequila.

Nutrition Benefits:

Blueberries loaded with high level of dietary mineral manganese, vitamin B6, vitamin C, vitamin K and dietary fiber known for their potential anti-disease effects, and reducing the risk of cancer and heart disease. Grapefruit are rich with vitamin C and the beneficial antioxidant lycopene which help to lower the level of r cholesterol. Grapefruit take a big part of the “grapefruit diet“, which is based on the fruit’s low glycemic index ability to boost the metabolism burn more fat.

Ingredients:

3oz lemon juice.

4.5oz grapefruit juice.

2oz blueberry juice.

0.3oz ginger juice.

400ml filtered water.

Orange Blackberry Lemonade

Taking the traditional lemonade into a different place, this is truly delicious and highly nutritional juice, which would work great in almost any setting, from a casual refreshment, as a part of a lemonade cleanse, or with your fav alcohol mix (I would recommend bourbon here). Like other lemonades you might find it easier to use a citrus press rather than a traditional juicer.

Blackberries known for their highly antioxidant strength, while the Oranges and Lemons are rich in vitamin C.

3 oz Lemon Juice.

2 oz blackberries juice.

4.5 oz orange juice.

The BPC Cleanse is amazing!

I am a big fan of the blue print cleanse (BPC), the first time I had done their 3 days cleanse I couldn’t believe not only how great it makes you feel, but also how delicious the juices are, though while you are on a cleanse the only thing you are waiting for is the next juices, the bpc juices are something to wait for even when not on a cleanse.

But I can’t afford it on a regular base so…

So I was looking of doing a 5 days cleanse this time, but to be honest this stuff get a bit too pricey even for me. a simple math would give you that the $65 dollar a day for 5 days would end up coasting me $325, and going with the Master Cleanse program seems to be way to hardcore and not very yummy way to cleanse for me. so after thinking about it for a bit I decided to try to create my own home made BPC cleanse.

Do I have the time to cleanse?

Juicin’ is quite easy specially if you have the right equipment, though like any other type of cooking, it would be much easier if you are organized and willing to put the right time and effort into it. a friend who stayed at my house asked me while watching me prep a 3 days cleanse, ‘wow this is a lot of work, it takes you more than 2 hours…’ and its true it does take me more than 2 hours to juice a 3 or 4 days cleanse, but think how long it would have taken me to cook food for 3 days, or even to eat outside for 3 days. much more than 2 hours. so if you ask yourself do I have the time to do all of this, I would say you don’t have the time not to!

Really fresh type of a juice, the green elements makes it feel like a salad juice, very good as a morning juice. the tricky thing with preparing this juice is that most home juicer are not that great with leafy products, so try to mix them with the more solid ingredients.

Nutrition Benefits:

Kale known to be powerful antioxidant / anti-inflammatory and very high on vitamin K, C and rich in calcium.  Apples may reduce the risk of colon cancer, prostate cancer and lung cancer.

3 Romaine leafs

1 Cucumber

one of my favorite juices, I love both pineapple and apple juice and this combination with the mint is just perfect, you can play around with the ratio for different results based on what you like more (apples/pineapples).

A thing to note about how to prep the pineapple, let it sit on it side in the refrigerator for half an hour before you cut it, this would let all the sweetness which captured at the bottom of the pineapple spread throughout, and give you much more flavorful juice.

Nutrition benefits:

Pineapples are rich with enzyme and protein and known to reduce risk in kidney or liver disease, some people believe it also function as a pain reviler and even help to induce childbirth.

1/3 Pineapple
2 granny smith Apple
4 tbsp Mint (finely chopped)

Taken from the master cleanse diet, real simple and delicious juice, no juicer or any other gadget needed (though if you have one it might help), this is really the type of juice you can drink in any situation, its super refreshing. one thing to note, I prefer to drink it with the agave nectar, it bring a certain type of sweetness to it that honey wouldn’t.

The combination of lemon which help in the detoxification process and cayenne pepper which increases circulation which raises the metabolism is really crucial to any type of cleanse.

if you like beet juice, this might be a good take on it, if you don’t than don’t try it, I doubt that there is a way to make a light beet juice, beet is kind of an radical vegetable, specially when it comes to juice. I do find the combination of apples and beet to be very interesting. This is a more layer juice recipe which works great in different type of cleanses.

Carrot known as a rich source of vitamin A which takes a big part in improving vision, An urban legend says eating large amounts of carrots will allow one to see in the dark. the beet contain a lot of oxalic acid which helps with stress and digestion issues.

Ingredients:

3 Carrots
1 Fuji Apple
2 Beet
4 Celery ribs
1.5 tbsp Ginger
0.5 oz Lemon juice
